Net to gross salary in Poland

If you know the take-home pay you want, for example when negotiating an offer in euros, choose Net to gross in the salary calculator. It searches for the gross salary that gives your target net, including the cap and the 32% bracket. For typical salaries the gross is about 1.35 to 1.4 times the net. A net of PLN 7,147 needs a gross of about PLN 10,000, and a net of PLN 5,784 needs about PLN 8,000.

Tax-free amount in Poland (PLN 30,000)

Every taxpayer on the tax scale has a PLN 30,000 tax-free amount. In practice it lowers your tax by PLN 3,600 a year, which employers apply as PLN 300 off the monthly advance after you submit a PIT-2 form. If you have several employers, claim it with only one, or you may owe tax at the end of the year. Untick the tax-free box in the calculator to see the difference. Non-residents generally cannot use it. Use the residency tab to check your status.

B2B tax calculator for Poland: B2B vs employment

Many foreign specialists in Poland choose between an employment contract and B2B, where you invoice the company as a sole trader. The B2B vs employment tab compares them at the same cost to the company. In the default example, a company that pays PLN 12,048 a month in total can either employ you at PLN 10,000 gross, with PLN 7,147 take-home, or pay you a PLN 12,048 monthly invoice. After full ZUS, PLN 6,000 of yearly costs and 20 unpaid days off, B2B leaves you about PLN 7,145 a month on the best tax form, which is almost exactly the same, while you lose paid leave and sick pay. On preferential ZUS, available for the first 24 months, B2B leaves about PLN 8,280. To match the employment net on full ZUS, the B2B invoice needs to be about PLN 12,050 a month.

  • What B2B costs you: no paid leave or sick pay, no notice protection, your own ZUS and accounting, and a lower future pension if you pay ZUS on a small base.
  • Risk: from July 2026, labour inspectors can reclassify disguised B2B as employment. See our hiring guide.
  • Pension: check what each option does to your ZUS pension in the pension calculator.

Poland tax burden calculator: how much of pay goes to tax

The salary results show the tax wedge: income tax and all social and health contributions, including the employer's share, as a percentage of what the employer pays in total. At PLN 10,000 gross it is about 41%, at PLN 15,000 about 45% and at PLN 25,000 about 50%. For business owners, the sole trader tab shows the burden as a share of profit for each tax form.

How the numbers are calculated

  • Salary: employee contributions of 13.71% (pension 9.76%, disability 1.5%, sickness 2.45%), health insurance of 9% on pay after those contributions, and PIT of 12% up to PLN 120,000 of income and 32% above it. PIT is worked out month by month on cumulative income, the way employers do it, and rounded to whole PLN.
  • Employer cost: pension 9.76%, disability 6.5%, accident insurance (1.67% by default), Labour Fund 2.45% and the Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund 0.1%. Pension and disability contributions stop when annual pay passes PLN 282,600.
  • Sole trader: 2026 ZUS amounts, a minimum health contribution of PLN 432.54, 9% of income on the tax scale, 4.9% on the flat tax (with the PLN 14,100 deduction limit), and fixed lump-sum health amounts of PLN 498.35, 830.58 or 1,495.04 a month by revenue band.
  • B2B vs employment: B2B revenue is the employer's total cost, reduced by the unpaid days off you enter, and the best of the three tax forms is shown.
  • Company: CIT of 19%, or 9% for small taxpayers, then withholding tax on the dividend at 19% by default, or a treaty or exemption rate you choose.
  • Not modelled: other income, joint filing, child relief, foreign tax credits, benefits in kind, bonuses that vary by month, Estonian CIT, the solidarity levy on lump-sum income, and transfer pricing or thin capitalisation rules.

Tax questions foreigners ask

How do I calculate net salary in Poland?

Start from the gross salary and subtract the employee contributions: 9.76% pension, 1.5% disability and 2.45% sickness. Subtract a 9% health contribution calculated on what is left. Then subtract income tax of 12% on taxable income after contributions and PLN 250 of costs, less the PLN 300 monthly tax-free amount. The salary calculator above does all of this and works month by month, like an employer's payroll.

What is the take-home pay on PLN 10,000 gross in Poland?

About PLN 7,147 net a month in 2026, which is 71.5% of gross. Employee contributions take PLN 2,148 and income tax about PLN 706. The employer pays a further PLN 2,048 on top, so the total cost to the employer is about PLN 12,048 a month.

How do I convert net to gross salary in Poland?

Switch the salary calculator to "Net to gross", enter the take-home pay you want and it returns the gross salary needed. As a rule of thumb, for typical salaries the gross is about 1.35 to 1.4 times the net.

What is the tax-free amount in Poland?

The tax-free amount is PLN 30,000 a year. It works as a reduction of PLN 3,600 in annual tax, or PLN 300 a month, when you use the 12% bracket. Employees get it through their employer by filing a PIT-2 form. It does not apply under the flat tax or the lump sum.

What are the income tax rates in Poland in 2026?

On the tax scale, 12% up to PLN 120,000 of taxable income and 32% above it, with an extra 4% solidarity levy on income over PLN 1 million. Business owners can instead choose a 19% flat tax or a lump sum of 2% to 17% of revenue.

How much tax does a foreigner pay in Poland?

Foreigners pay the same rates as Polish citizens. Tax residents are taxed on worldwide income. Non-residents are taxed only on income from Polish sources and generally cannot use the tax-free amount, with exceptions for residents of the EU, EEA and Switzerland who earn most of their income in Poland.

What is the total tax burden in Poland?

For a salary of PLN 10,000 gross, income tax and all social and health contributions, including the employer's share, take about 41% of the total cost of employing the person. The share rises to about 49% at PLN 25,000 gross.

B2B vs employment in Poland: which gives more take-home pay?

At the same cost to the company, B2B on full ZUS leaves roughly the same take-home as an employment contract at PLN 10,000 gross in the default example (about PLN 7,145 against PLN 7,147 a month), once you count ZUS, PLN 6,000 of costs and 20 unpaid days off. Preferential ZUS or lower costs tip it in favour of B2B, but you give up paid leave, sick pay and notice protection, and a lower ZUS base means a smaller future pension. Use the B2B vs employment tab to compare your own numbers.

What is the best tax form for a B2B contractor in Poland?

It depends on your revenue and costs. The tax scale works at lower profits with the tax-free amount, the 19% flat tax suits high profits with real costs, and the lump sum wins when costs are low. The sole trader tab compares all three for your numbers.

Do I pay Polish social security if I am from another EU country?

Usually you pay social security in one country only. If you are posted to Poland temporarily and hold an A1 certificate from your home country, you stay in the home system, and you can choose No for ZUS in the salary tab.

Do I pay tax in Poland if I work remotely for a foreign employer?

If you are a Polish tax resident, generally yes, on your worldwide income, with relief for tax paid abroad under a treaty. If you are not a resident, Poland taxes only income from work performed in Poland. Use the residency tab.

I am paid in euros or dollars. Which exchange rate is used?

For tax, foreign-currency income is generally converted at the National Bank of Poland average rate from the last working day before the income arises. This tool takes PLN inputs and shows conversions at the latest published rate.

Why does my payslip differ from the result?

Payslips can include other reliefs, benefits, bonuses, sick pay, a different accident rate or a different month-by-month pattern. Small differences of a few PLN also come from rounding.
